ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB)for incorporating practical production-based projects into the Media Studies and Journalism curriculum, which allowed me the opportunity to work on a documentary like ঈদরেখা: মিলনের ময়দান. I am especially grateful to my supervisor Mr. Nibras Bin Sayed for his continuous support, creative input, and valuable guidance throughout the entire production process. His insights, patience, and mentorship have been instrumental in shaping the final outcome of this documentary. Even when the project became logistically and emotionally demanding, his encouragement and direction helped me persevere. I would also like to thank the production team members and collaborators whose tireless efforts behind the scenes made this project possible. The collective spirit and teamwork were essential to navigating the practical challenges of field-based documentary filming. I extend my gratitude to the authorities at Gor-e-Shahid Eidgah Maidan, Dinajpur, and to the local community members who allowed us access, shared their stories, and welcomed us with warmth and generosity. Their participation and trust added depth and authenticity to the narrative.
Furthermore, I acknowledge the use of supporting visual materials and licensed content that contributed significantly to the documentary’s overall visual language. I am also grateful for the references and resources consulted throughout the project. Lastly, I am deeply thankful to my family, friends, and well-wishers who supported me emotionally and intellectually throughout the production and post-production phases of the internship. Their faith in me has been a source of strength. This project has been a transformative experience, and I remain indebted to everyone who helped turn this vision into a reality.

2. Expectations and Objectives
I undertook this documentary project as an opportunity to apply the theoretical and practical knowledge I have gained from the Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) department at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) in a real-world setting. My primary expectation was to deepen my understanding of filmmaking through firsthand experience in a dynamic and often unpredictable environment beyond the classroom. Through this internship, I also aimed to refine my technical skills in documentary production and enhance my ability to collaborate, communicate, and build networks within the field of media and storytelling.

SECTION III
3. Documentary Proposal: The Grand Eid Congregation at Gor-E-Shahid Maidan
1. Argument and Explanation of the Argument
Title: "The Grand Eid: Faith, Unity, and Tradition at Gor-E-Shahid Maidan" Argument:
The Eid congregation at Gor-E-Shahid Maidan in Dinajpur is not only the largest Eid prayer gathering in South Asia but also a symbol of religious unity, tradition, and immense organizational excellence. This documentary will explore how thousands gather here, how the event is organized, and how it transforms the city’s social and cultural landscape on Eid day.
2. How Will You Try to Prove It?
We will approach the subject from several perspectives:
● Historical Perspective: Using archival footage and interviews with local researchers and elderly residents to explore the origins and evolution of the congregation. ● Organizational Aspect: Interviews with the Imam, organizing committee members, volunteers, security forces, and others involved to reveal how such a massive gathering is managed.
● Personal Experience: Capturing the perspectives of general attendees, local shopkeepers, and families through interviews.
● Visual Narrative: Conveying the atmosphere and religious emotion of the massive congregation through drone shots, time-lapses, and thoughtful framing.
3. List of Location, Character, and Questionnaire

Pre Production planning in my note’s
SECTION IV
The idea of creating this documentary emerged from a personal connection I have with my hometown, Dinajpur. Every year, thousands gather at the historic Gor-E-Shahid Maidan to take part in one of South Asia’s largest Eid congregations—but no documentary had ever captured this spiritual and social phenomenon before. As someone who has grown up witnessing the grandeur of this event, I felt a deep urge to preserve its essence and share it with a wider audience through visual storytelling.
When I pitched the idea to my internship supervisor, Nibras Bin Sayed, he encouraged me to explore this narrative, recognizing its cultural and regional value. With his support and guidance, I began shaping the project to reflect not only the religious importance of the Eid prayer but also the rich tradition, unity, and community spirit that surround it.
17
This became the first-ever documentary film focusing on the Eid story of Dinajpur, and as a resident of the town, it was both a personal and professional milestone for me. My goal was to capture the layers of faith, emotion, and organization that come together to create this monumental event. I used my skills from the Digital Film and Television Production concentration of the MSJ Department at ULAB to carry out this vision.
To complete the project, I collaborated with fellow media students, local volunteers, and community leaders. Their cooperation played a crucial role, especially during the pre-Eid and Eid day shoots. I was also fortunate to receive moral and logistical support from friends and family based in Dinajpur who understood the significance of this endeavor.
Thus, with encouragement from ULAB, rooted inspiration from my hometown, and support from local networks, I successfully executed a documentary titled “ঈদরেখা: মিলনের ময়দান”.

4.2 Involvement in Production
Because of the nature of the project and the small size of the crew, I had to multitask during the production phase. While my primary roles were Director and Cinematographer, I frequently assisted other departments, supervised coordination, and ensured the creative and technical flow remained uninterrupted. As the shoot took place in my hometown Dinajpur, I also played a key role in local networking and logistics management, which significantly helped in organizing interviews, accessing locations, and ensuring smooth operations.
The production of the documentary took place over four days — March 27, 28, and 29, 2025 (pre-Eid) and the morning of March 30, 2025 (Eid day). Each day focused on capturing a different aspect of the story to reflect the layered narrative of the Gor-E-Shahid Eid congregation.

4.3 Involvement in Postproduction
The post production phase of the documentary was both intensive and creatively rewarding. Given the volume of footage and the emotional depth of the content, I personally oversaw every stage of the process — from organizing rushes to final mastering. My core responsibilities included footage review, logging, editing direction, voiceover scripting, subtitling, and color correction. I used my editorial instincts to structure the narrative around the spiritual, social, and visual essence of the Gor-E-Shahid Maidan Eid congregation.
This was the first ever documentary on Eid al Gor-E-Shahid Maidan, which gave me both the responsibility and freedom to shape a culturally rooted yet technically refined visual experience. I worked closely with the editor and sound designer to maintain a consistent tone and elevate the viewer's emotional engagement with the story.

6. Outcomes
Creating ঈদরেখা: মিলনের ময়দান has been one of the most transformative experiences of my academic and creative journey. As this was the first documentary made in Dinajpur on the grand Eid congregation at Gor-E-Shahid Maidan, it felt both a personal and historic responsibility to execute it with care, respect, and cinematic quality. Shooting in my hometown added a layer of emotional depth, as I could engage with familiar faces and revisit places I grew up around, now through the lens of storytelling.
The project did not come without its share of challenges. During pre production, one of the most unexpected situations arose when I applied for drone shooting permission from the SP office of Dinajpur. Not only was the permission denied, but the situation escalated when police were sent to my house for verification. This incident caused quite a stir in my neighborhood, leading to tension and concern among locals — something I only came to know later through my neighbors. It was an emotionally intense experience, and one that forced me to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Another hurdle came just before the shoot — since the project coincided with Eid-ul-Fitr, I couldn’t find a cinematographer to assist me as everyone was preoccupied with the festival. This forced me to multitask extensively and take full responsibility for both direction and cinematography, in addition to managing local coordination and logistics. It tested not just my skills but also my stamina and decision-making in real time.
Despite the limitations of budget, a small team, and technical constraints, the documentary gave me the opportunity to work independently and develop a much deeper understanding of faith-based storytelling, crowd management, and high-pressure shooting environments. The project was extremely valuable for my education in digital film and television production. It helped me put theory into practice and sharpen my visual storytelling and research-based interviewing.
Moreover, making this film opened up new possibilities. It gave me the confidence to plan for more socially conscious projects in Dinajpur, especially those that can touch on local identity, heritage, and untold stories. With the right support and a larger team in the future, I believe I can
29
expand this vision into a series of cultural documentaries that explore the deeper layers of community life across the northern districts of Bangladesh.
In conclusion, this project consumed far more time, energy, and emotional investment than I initially imagined — but it was absolutely worth it. It brought me closer to my roots, gave voice to the people of my town, and helped me grow both as a filmmaker and a person.

5. General Comments
Through the video documentary project “The Grand Eid: Faith, Unity, and Tradition at Gor-E-Shahid Maidan”, I had the opportunity to apply and enhance a wide range of skills that I acquired through my education in the MSJ department. These include but are not limited to research, planning, coordination, storytelling, and leadership. As this was the first documentary of its kind focusing on the religious and social significance of Eid at Gor-E-Shahid Maidan in my hometown Dinajpur, I was deeply involved in every phase—pre production, production, and postproduction. I developed my capabilities in scriptwriting, cinematography, interviewing, and video editing, while also managing logistics and engaging in community-level networking. This project gave me hands-on experience in documentary filmmaking and strengthened both my technical expertise and creative confidence. |

Concluding Remarks
The Grand Eid congregation at Gor-E-Shahid Maidan represents a unique intersection of religious devotion, cultural tradition, and large-scale community organization. By documenting this event, the project seeks to contribute to the scholarly understanding of how religious practices shape social cohesion, cultural identity, and public space in South Asia. The documentary will provide a comprehensive view of the historical development, organizational complexity, and lived experiences associated with this significant gathering.
Through a combination of archival research, interviews, and visual documentation, this project aims to create an informative and enduring resource for researchers, students, and general audiences interested in religious studies, anthropology, and South Asian culture. In doing so, it intends to not only preserve an important cultural phenomenon but also stimulate further inquiry into the evolving role of communal religious events in contemporary society.
